    Tank Cleaning | How Does Mechanised Cleaning Achieve Precisely Targeted Results?

    Once mechanised cleaning equipment is inside a storage tank, another crucial question arises: how do operators know which areas need more focused cleaning?

    Sludge and deposits inside a tank are not distributed evenly. Deposit thickness, condition and cleaning difficulty can vary from one location to another. If the actual conditions inside the tank cannot be seen during operations, cleaning can only continue according to a preset approach, making it difficult to adjust promptly as conditions change.

    So, beyond being able to clean, another capability is becoming increasingly important: being able to see.

    01 Without Visibility, Judgement Relies on Experience

    In traditional tank cleaning, operators often rely on preliminary inspections, experience-based judgement and checks at different stages to understand conditions inside the tank.

    However, tank interiors are large and structurally complex, and sludge deposits may vary considerably.

    Some locations may already be largely cleaned, while others still contain thick deposits; some areas are relatively easy to clean, while others require further treatment.

    Without being able to see these changes promptly, it is difficult to judge:

    Which areas have been cleaned adequately?

    Which areas still need more work?

    Which area should be the next priority?

    Mechanised cleaning therefore improves not only the equipment's working capability, but also the ability to understand and manage the cleaning process itself.

    02 Cameras Make Conditions Inside the Tank Visible

    To address this issue, the mechanised cleaning equipment supplied by Tecway can be combined with cameras for visual cleaning.

    Operators do not need to enter the tank to check conditions. From outside, they can observe the actual conditions inside and use the images to assess sludge distribution and the current cleaning status.

    The equipment deploys cleaning guns through the manway and uses cameras for visual cleaning, allowing targeted cleaning according to conditions inside the tank.

    The cleaning process is then no longer simply equipment working inside the tank, but a continuous sequence:

    Observe → Assess → Adjust → Confirm Again

    For on-site operators, being able to see conditions inside the tank also means cleaning decisions can be based more on actual conditions, rather than solely on preset times or experience-based judgement.

    03 How Does Cleaning Become Precisely Targeted?

    The greatest significance of visualisation is not merely the addition of a screen. It changes the way cleaning is carried out.

    Once operators can see sludge distribution and cleaning status inside the tank, they can adjust the equipment's working position to suit actual conditions, concentrating more time and cleaning capability on areas that need particular attention.

    For example:

    Where deposits are thicker, more targeted treatment can be applied;

    Where an area has already been largely cleaned, there is no need to keep repeating the work;

    When localised residue is found, the cleaning position can be adjusted promptly, rather than discovering it only during a later inspection.

    First see clearly, then decide where to clean. This is the essence of precisely targeted cleaning.

    04 Visualisation Makes the Cleaning Process Controllable

    For tank-cleaning projects, what really matters is not simply how long the equipment has been running, but the extent to which the tank has ultimately been cleaned.

    If conditions inside the tank can be observed continuously, on-site personnel can gain a more direct understanding of cleaning progress and adjust subsequent work according to the actual results.

    Rather than following a fixed pattern from start to finish, the equipment responds to the real conditions inside the tank. Sludge distribution and cleaning status inside the tank are visible on the screen.

    Mechanised Tank-Cleaning Equipment Rental and Cleaning Services

    Tecway Industrial provides two types of service for mechanised tank cleaning: equipment rental and cleaning services.

    Equipment Rental

    For tank-cleaning companies and engineering service providers, equipment can be configured according to tank type, project conditions and actual cleaning requirements.

    Companies with fluctuating project volumes or intermittent equipment needs can configure equipment flexibly for individual projects, reducing upfront equipment investment and the burden of long-term idle capacity.

    Cleaning Services

    For tank-farm owners and operators at oil depots, refineries, chemical plants and oilfields, mechanised tank-cleaning project services can be provided according to tank type, stored product, site conditions and project requirements. Work execution and cleaning plans are developed to suit actual operating conditions.
