The CLDM liner measurement analysis report: precise records, complete picture.
In modern ship and power plant maintenance, an accurate assessment of cylinder liner wear is central to keeping the main engine reliable and to optimising overhaul intervals. CLDM (Cylinder Liner Diameter Measurement) combines highly integrated measuring technology with intelligent analysis software and automatically generates a properly formatted, detailed analysis report once measurement is complete. The report documents the full measurement process and the raw data, and uses multi-dimensional visualisation to present liner wall wear to maintenance staff in a direct, quantified form, providing a solid basis for informed decisions.

1. Standardised report output for efficient information transfer
Once a measurement task ends, the CLDM system automatically produces a PDF report in line with common industry standards. The report is clearly structured, covering measurement reference data, the raw data listing, analysis charts and conclusions with recommendations. PDF offers good cross-platform compatibility for review on any device and supports archiving, distribution by email and direct printing with no conversion or reformatting. This standardised output ensures every measurement result is recorded and shared in a uniform, complete form, creating the data foundation for whole-life equipment management.
2. Compliance-oriented data records that support authoritative maintenance decisions
All wear data is captured, calculated and evaluated strictly in accordance with engine manufacturer technical specifications and the relevant classification society standards. The system holds built-in tolerance ranges and wear limits for the liners of mainstream engine types, compares measured values against standard tolerances in real time during measurement, and clearly marks out-of-tolerance locations and the extent of deviation in the report. This compliance-oriented approach gives the assessment authority and comparability: maintenance staff can judge directly from the report whether a liner remains within its permitted working range, then take a precise repair-or-replace decision without relying on subjective experience.
3. Multi-dimensional visual analysis for a full view of liner condition
CLDM is not only a precision measuring tool but also an intelligent data analysis platform. The system uses a lightweight wireless handheld terminal, so maintenance staff can operate the equipment remotely from a safe area of the engine room, substantially reducing workload and safety risk in elevated, oily conditions. During measurement, data is synchronised to the terminal software in real time by Bluetooth or radio and passes straight into the visual analysis workflow.

2D curves: precise quantification of the axial wear profile
The 2D curves in the report plot axial measurement position on the horizontal axis against wear depth or dimensional deviation on the vertical axis, mapping the profile of the liner wall along a given scanning path. Standard tolerance bands and historical measurement traces are overlaid, so localised wear, step formation and ovality become immediately visible. With the cursor, maintenance staff can read the exact deviation at any position, giving quantified analysis at micrometre level.
3D animation: a full view of the liner wall
The system further reconstructs the discrete measuring points into a full-stroke three-dimensional unrolled view or dynamic model of the liner wall, using a colour gradient to represent wear depth and showing wear distribution, scoring direction and residual honing marks in three dimensions. The 3D view supports rotation, zoom and sectioning, making it straightforward to assess overall liner health — particularly useful for identifying abnormal wear patterns and analysing root causes.

The CLDM measurement analysis report turns raw measurement data into readable, credible and visual decision intelligence. It is both a compliant technical document and a panoramic picture of liner health. As intelligent operation and condition-based maintenance become standard practice, the CLDM report is becoming an important bridge between measurement on site and management decisions, helping ships and power plants operate more safely and more economically.
